Local charities receive cheques worth £54,500 from Castle MacLellan in Kirkcudbright. The good causes to receive the backing are Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes, Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association and Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities.

The three organisations making a tangible difference across our region, supporting urgent healthcare logistics, local community events, and mental health and wellbeing services.

The donations include: £40,000 to Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes, £10,000 to Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association, £4,500 to Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities.

Castle MacLellan products are crafted in Scotland with ingredients coming from many regional and national suppliers, however our role in the community doesn’t stop there.

Sam Warren, Site Operations Manager at Castle MacLellan, said:

We’re rooted right here in Kirkcudbright. Our team has been crafting great-tasting food for over 40 years, and our relaunch has been about raising the bar again; better flavour, stronger provenance and an offer that meets what modern Scottish shoppers are looking for.

As we build that momentum with new product launches, it matters that we keep playing our part locally too. These three organisations deliver real impact.  They keep essential services running, support people living with mental health conditions, and bring the community together. We’re delighted to donate £54,500 to help them continue their vital work.

Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes

Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes is a volunteer-run charity that supports local NHS services and patients by transporting urgent medical items including blood, blood samples, medication and equipment free of charge, 24/7, 365 days a year and across long rural distances.

In a region where time and geography can make access and provision challenging, their riders help keep essential supplies moving quickly and reliably, helping clinical teams focus on patient care. Castle MacLellan’s £40,000 donation will help sustain the charity’s ability to operate 24/7 by contributing to the ongoing costs of keeping bikes and volunteers on the road from vehicle upkeep, safety equipment to fuel helping ensure this vital service can continue.

Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes relies entirely on charitable donations. On average every month, we cover the mileage equivalent to travelling around the world transporting emergency medical supplies. Today’s donation by Castle MacLellan is incredible and will make an immediate difference helping us keep our bikes on the road, our volunteers equipped, and our service running 24/7” said David Hook, Chairman of Dumfries and Galloway Blood Bikes.

Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association

Dumfries and Galloway Mental Health Association supports adults living with mental health conditions to live purposeful, fulfilling lives within their own communities.

By creating opportunities for connection, confidence-building and day-to-day wellbeing, the charity helps reduce isolation and supports people to feel part of community life. Castle MacLellan’s £10,000 donation will help fund inclusion-focused activities and day trips that provide positive shared experiences for service users to strengthen resilience, community connection and overall mental health outcomes.

Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities

Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities helps bring the town together by organising and supporting community events that celebrate local culture, attract visitors and create shared moments for families, residents and local businesses.

These events play an important role in community life boosting local pride and encouraging footfall for the high street. Castle MacLellan’s £4,500 donation will help deliver and develop community activity including seasonal events, helping ensure local celebrations remain welcoming and inclusive for everyone.

Together, the three donations will help keep essential services running and make sure community support remains available to those who need it most. Castle MacLellan said it is proud to support organisations working quietly behind the scenes across Dumfries & Galloway, and hopes the funding helps them to continue making a real difference locally.
